Wages and Conditions
Your wages and conditions are built on awards, the National Employment Standards and your employment agreement. The National Employment Standards (NES) sets out the legal minimums for employment conditions such as base salary, leave
entitlements, redundancy protection and other minimum conditions of
employment. The NES is a safety net, that ensures pay and conditions cannot fall below a certain level. Awards are industry, or occupation-based, minimum employment standards which apply in addition to the NES. As the collective voice for 25,000+ professionals our advocacy helps protect and improve many state and national industry awards. In many workplaces we help negotiate Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBA's) on behalf of our members. If you are employed under an EBA APESMA gives you a stronger voice in the workplace to negotiate a better deal. The vast majority of professionals will be on individual contracts with their employer, or be working as contractors or consultants. We offer advice and expert review of your employment contract to ensure it meets all legal minimums and that you understand the nature and implications of all clauses.
